Expert Camping Gear Reviews & Advice
There’s a very specific kind of heartbreak reserved for British summers: you unzip the bag, reach for what should be an ice-cold can, and find something closer to bathwater. A best cool bag exists to prevent exactly that small tragedy. In practical terms, it’s a soft-sided, insulated container — usually foam-lined and wrapped in weatherproof … Read more
A warm beer at a UK campsite is a personal tragedy, and a soggy sandwich swimming in melted ice water is somehow worse. That’s the entire reason the Dometic electric cool box exists: no ice, no dripping bag-for-life, no Tuesday-morning panic about whether last night’s chicken is still safe to eat. A Dometic electric cool … Read more
There’s a specific kind of British misery that nobody talks about enough: opening your cool box on day two of a camping trip to discover that your butter has melted into a liquid, your cheese smells aggressively like a changing room, and the milk you were saving for your morning coffee is now warm soup. … Read more
There’s a particular kind of misery that only British campers truly understand. It’s day two at a muddy field somewhere in Somerset. The sun has — bafflingly — appeared. Not because it’s broken. Because the Camping Gaz refill you bought last summer turned … Read more
There’s a particular kind of dread that hits about thirty seconds before the kettle should be boiling: the flame sputters, sighs, and dies, and you realise your gas has chosen this exact moment — drizzling, dim, somewhere outside Pitlochry — to give up. Propane cylinders camping kit doesn’t get much glory. Nobody photographs their gas … Read more
There’s an old camping cliché: spend your money on the big things, save on the small ones. Tent, sleeping bag, boots — yes. Gas canister? Surely just gas is gas, right? Wrong. Profoundly, inconveniently wrong. The value camping gas canisters market is cluttered with options that look identical on the shelf but behave very differently … Read more
You’ve packed the tent, wrestled the sleeping bag into its stuff sack, and somehow managed to cram four days’ worth of questionable weather gear into a 65-litre rucksack. Then you reach the campsite, pull out your shiny new stove — and realise you’ve bought the wrong gas canisters camping. The burner won’t connect. It’s raining. … Read more
